My Journey Begins

As a learner I know that I have to practice what I learn in order to truly "cement" the lessons. I can always remember something that I have read about, heard about, talked about, and then done better than anything.

The 21st Century Learning Competencies are familiar but not second nature knowledge for me. I have an idea about what is expected of 21st Century Learners but not necessarily what those expectations translate into in lesson and activity form.

I think that my teaching style is stronger in the competencies of knowledge construct, real-world problem solving, and skilled communication. My weakest areas are in collaboration and the use of technology. While I understand the importance of all the areas but I am looking forward to leaning more about meaningful incorporation of them into lessons. I do not currently have a classroom of my own but I do work with other teachers on their own instructional practices. My personal goal for this course is to be able to walk away with strategies and suggestions that I can provide to the rest of the teachers in my building to help us all work towards 21st Century geared teaching.
